The Story
This cocktail began as the private tonic of a mysterious fortune-teller who ran her parlor from the back room of an old botanical shop. She claimed the drink helped her "see," and she would only prepare it during a full moon. The base of her concoction was gin, its complex, herbal notes acting as a conduit for the "earthly spirits" she claimed to consult.
Instead of the traditional lime, she used the sharp, clarifying power of lemon juice to "cut through the veil" of the present. To this, she added a thick, hazy Kiwi Plup (pulp), giving the drink a strange, textured body. The most crucial ingredient for the ritual was a syrup steeped in warm, mystical spices: her signature Allspice Syrup, which she claimed awakened the "inner eye."
"A mystical, botanical potion that cuts through the veil...and watches you back."
The cocktail was served cloudy and green, a swirling, herbaceous potion. But the ritual was only complete with the final, unnerving garnish: a meticulously carved Kiwi Eyeball, which was floated on top. The oracle would instruct her clients to "stare into the eye as it stares into you." The "Eyeball Gimlet" is a tart, spicy, and botanical mystery, a drink that watches you back.
